This book was first published (first edition) in 1979. Since then, many tales have been recorded and it is necessary to publish supplementary editions. Therefore, 49 new type numbers have been added. Since the 1980s, The type catalog of tales have been published by researchers. Researchers such as Inada Koji of Japan, Ting Nai-tung of China, and Jin Rong-hua of Taiwan made a type catalog of tales and provided a lot of help to the academic world.

Born in Anyang, Korea(1942). Philippine Union College, Nursing Course(BSN) 1967. New York (R.N. 1970). Full-time Instructor at Seoul Sanitarium and Hospital, School of Nursing. (1967-1969). She is a member of the Asian Comparative Folklore Society and attended in the extensive field works in Japan, China, India, Indonesia, and the United States. She was also co-published a collection of Korean folktales (5 volumes in total) with Choi In-hak.
